OpenOffice Dictionaries
One of the most important parts of a word processor is the dictionary you use to spellcheck documents. Fortunately, OpenOffice has a good dictionary which is installed when you first choose the software but did you know that you can easily add a dictionary for a different language?
My open source software blog, it's called 'Free As In Air', has a post today in which I cover finding the location of new language dictionaries and then the whole subject of User Dictionaries which are the individual dictionaries for each user of the software.
I explain in the post how to add a custom user dictionary as well as how to add, edit and delete words from a user dictionary. I also suggest a useful url to a ready-made and waiting medical dictionary designed especially for OpenOffice users.
Understanding dictionaries and, in particular, the user dictionaries is very useful and a read of this short blog post is recommended.
